What I’d make Part 1
Katerina Pavidis
Dazzled by the gods’ warm clay
for you I’d bend toward
indulgence: craft new sepals from
flourishes of moon-
light and prayer dust,
trace bursts of pollen that
make the bees gasp with
ecstasy,
carve wild-toothed leaves
with fur that barely glimmers,
sculpt elated stamens
out of craterous moans,
chart a map of rhizomes
that leads to the cave
where the heart grows,
bury it in the
wettest dirt that is
absolutely nutritious,
HOW SWEET IT WOULD
BE TO MAKE A FLOWER
FOR YOU and be your vine,
a fine vine to twirl around
your wrist and twirl my
self around your stem with
dozens of fat-packed petals
the million brilliant hues
of a sunburnt peach/
